FAQs

“Because answers exist only to questions…”

– M T Krishnamurti

Process

  • I spend time listening to your verbal and non-verbal clues. My own identities as a highly sensitive person and empath make my capacity for presence powerful. This natural skill is supplemented by the tools, strategies and practices that I have learned and cultivated in my diverse experiences and trainings.

  • I don’t assume that I know your life better than you. I don’t tell you what to do. I don’t give you quick fixes or magical solutions. In case I ever mess up on any of these fronts as the fallible human I am, I don’t pretend that nothing went wrong. I apologise, and we learn together to mend and communicate even better than before.

  • While support offered here can have a therapeutic effect, it is not therapy. You are encouraged to assess the work we do together and seek therapy in addition to our work if relevant. My facilitation is not a replacement for therapy.

  • I have studied psychology, trauma, political theories, social movements, ecology, somatics, art therapy in detail. I have done this independently, without paying an institution to issue certificates to me. My studies have emerged from need, based in my lived experience and context, and my deep interest in learning and healing. I offer a free 30 minute discovery call so you can assess for yourself whether we are a match. You can also read my writings, check out my artwork and resources to see if this feels like a good fit.

Professional support is valid and important – my offering is from lived experience.

  • I am dedicated to flattened structures of power, in a conscious movement away from empowering authority figures as knowing everything. This is a bit of a challenge in the Indian context, where we have been taught to believe that teachers, bosses, elders and other people in positions of power like the police and government officials know better than us. My work is to support you as you see and wield your own power.

  • I believe that individualism is a made up construct of capitalism for profit-making. Reality looks more like the African concept of Ubuntu – I am because we are. No human being can grow up in isolation – we are not designed that way. This means that your context will always be a part of you and you will always affect your environment. So if you believe that your inner work can happen in isolation from your environment, then perhaps this is not the right space for you.

  • Yes. Not being able to sense ourselves or knowing what we need is a very real part of the process of self-discovery. If you would like to work with me, we can slowly and safely explore what it means to be in your shoes at the moment. You will learn to feel into your body and understand your needs, even if it feels scary at the moment. The process is challenging, and worthwhile.

  • You don’t have to do anything specific beforehand, we will talk through the process together. If you are the kind of person who is more comfortable planning ahead, feel free to reflect on why you would like support at the moment, and in what areas of your life. This can also be something we reflect on together.

  • The website has been designed by the brilliant Adwait Pawar. I wrote the content, with copious support from the wonderful beta-testers Kirthi Jayakumar, Sue Griffey, Amber Beckett, Talin Subbaraya and Antara Gaidhane. I learned a great deal about the content and framework from Tad Hargrave.

What do you mean by…

  • Neurodivergent means people whose bodymind systems work differently than the typical or majority people for whom social systems are designed. Previously treated as abnormal, we are now coming into the understanding that difference is not disorder. Instead, we look at the differences that emerge for each person as a unique constellation that we explore in our sessions to see what tools, practices and resources we can generate to optimize experience in social systems that may not be conducive to our personal constellations just yet, even as the fight for an equitable social system continues to move forward.

  • In this space, queer simply means people who accept or want to accept being different from mainstream definitions of how people are expected to behave. Instead of making oneself smaller, we learn to draw boundaries, take space and show up authentically as we are, in private and public spaces. This is the work of a lifetime, especially considering limiting socio-political systems and intergenerational trauma. It is also incredibly meaningful work that is transformative not just for each person, but a political act of transformation for society as a whole, when each person, family and community adds up.

  • In times of climate crisis, more and more people are feeling unaccounted for emotions of panic, pain, frustration, anger and terror. This can get especially activated around larger events of cyclones, tsunamis, hurricanes, wildfires as well as small-scale interactions with construction, mining, quarrying, pollution etc. If this strikes true for you, there is nothing wrong with you – you are simply connected deeply to nature. In our sessions, we can work on strategies so that you can learn to manage your experiences without numbing, avoiding or aggression. What would it look like if your connection to nature were a superpower for you to harness for the good of the world? As Tad Hargrave says, we are the world’s way of sorting out the messes of the world.

  • No, Ceremony does not have a religious aspect. I am committed to secular offerings. The Art Ceremony curated for you may have elements from cultural backgrounds in India that may also be seen in certain religious practices, but the intention is rooted in non-religious offerings. We can discuss this further during the curated process to discern what is most comfortable for you and me.

Pricing

  • You can see the prices for Tending the Flame and Kindle the Spirit on their pages. Prices for Illumine the Moment are curated according to the requirement of each client. Please contact me to know more.

  • While the prices are intentionally affordable considering the energy exchange required for each offering, there is space for folks in need of scholarships – especially with backgrounds of intersectional marginality. Please contact me to discuss what is possible in the context of your particular situation.

  • I believe in total transparency with the pricing so wanted to address this concern. Yes, the pricing will be revised eventually. However, it will not change in the duration of the program. The website will also announce revised pricing with a month’s advance notice.
